ACTIVE WALKWAY LAUNCH

We launched our Active School Walkway today in school. To celebrate the launch our principal Ms Ryan and the youngest and oldest pupil in the school cut the ribbon to launch our walkway. We received our Active School walkway pack from Get Ireland Walking and it is part of a country wide initiative to get everyone walking. Some of our 6th class girls marked out the walkway using cones and measured the distance around the walkway with a trundle wheel. The walkway is 407 metres around the perimeter. We attached the signs to treated timber stakes and placed them around our walkway. We intend to use our walkway on a regular basis. Some ideas for using the walkway include Do Your Talking When You are Walking, Active Revision, Drop Everything and Run and Preschool Walks.
