G.A.A
Cumann na mBunscol
Anacarty National School has a very proud tradition in hurling, football, camogie and ladies’ football.
We take part in the Cumann na mBunscol competitions every year in both football and hurling for the boys, and camogie and ladies’ football for the girls. Anacarty National School takes part in the Under 13 hurling and camogie, ladies’ football and football competitions, as well as the Under 11 hurling and football and ladies’ football and camogie competitions.
The children love playing GAA.
Every year, we send children from our sixth class to participate in the primary game trials, and we have been delighted that on numerous occasions, we have had different children represent our school on the primary game team.
They have competed strongly over the years, even winning county finals in Semple Stadium and also football finals.
We are very lucky to have, in Anacarty National School, a very strong connection with our local GAA club, Éire Óg Anacarty, and we have great support from them. Every week, we have a trainer come from the club and he coaches the various classes so that everybody gets a chance to take part.
GAA promotes a healthy love for sport and teamwork and is a great way for making friends, which we strongly endorse in Anacarty National School.
